A graduate of the École du Louvre and Université Paris 8, with a specialisation in contemporary art, Ivan Mietton is an independent curator, author and producer working at the intersection of contemporary art, design and architecture.
Through IMDA (Ivan Mietton Design Architecture), he develops international projects ranging from the production of unique pieces and site-specific installations to exhibitions and publications. He has collaborated with artists and designers including Johanna Grawunder, Mattia Bonetti, Ingo Maurer and Karim Rashid, overseeing the development and realisation of ambitious commissions in Europe and Asia.
As a curator, he has organised exhibitions exploring the work of major figures in design history, including Ettore Sottsass, Dieter Rams and Josef Hoffmann, bringing together historical research, archival material and contemporary perspectives.
His editorial work includes Ettore Sottsass & Poltronova 1958–1974 (Skira, 2021), Echoes: 50 Years of iMaestri (Rizzoli, 2023), commissioned by Cassina, and the first monograph dedicated to French artist and designer Pierre Sala (2024).
Across these three fields, his practice combines historical research, artistic collaboration and the development of new projects.
